Thursday night was a stiff test for a young Edmond Memorial defense at Del City, but the unit's performance excited coach Justin Merideth.

The Bulldogs allowed only one touchdown against an explosive offense.

“We had a couple of busts, but we limited them,” Merideth said. “And we played really hard. As long as we continue to do that — I don't care how old we are — we'll be fine.

“I thought we made plays at all levels. Of course, we have a lot to improve on, but I thought we made a lot of improvement from last week, and that's what I want to see.”

DEL CITY'S MASON STANDS OUT

With an offensive line mostly full of returning starters in front of him, Del City running back Anthony Mason looks to be part of a dangerous offense that can attack both on the ground and in the air.

Mason only stands 5-foot-6, but his quickness, agility and surprising strength to run through tackles will give him a chance for a big season on a team that looks to make noise with the move down to Class 5A.
