MOORE — Dupree Young saw everything go into slow motion.
Yet, his Norman teammates and coaches saw him use his speed to break free on a 93-yard kickoff return Thursday night when it looked like it was nearly impossible.
That touchdown, though, turned into the game-changer for the Tigers en route to a 28-10 high school football victory over Moore at Moore Stadium.
“It really turned the game around,” Norman quarterback Zach Long said. “I thought he was going to get stopped at like the 20, but he just busted it out of there. I was like, ‘Geez.' It got the crowd all crazy, and it got us all riled up.”
Just seconds after Moore answered Norman's opening touchdown with a touchdown of its own from quarterback Colin Webb, Dupree provided a much-needed spark for the Tigers after last week's loss to Norman North.
“I think anytime you return a kickoff, block a punt, anything you can do on special teams to spark, is going to turn your team,” Norman coach Greg Nation said.
And Dupree's return did just that as the Tigers scored on two of their next three offensive plays.
After forcing Moore (0-2) to punt on its next possession, on third-and-44, running back Imond Robinson delivered another blow with a 64-yard TD run up the middle. After yet another punt, Long broke free on the second offensive play for a 69-yard TD and 28-7 lead.
