NORMAN — Music and art lovers are invited to take part in the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art's Tuesday Noon Concerts, scheduled each Tuesday through Nov. 13 at the museum, 555 Elm. A collaboration between the museum and the University of Oklahoma School of Music, the free, 30-minute concerts feature OU music students and faculty.
Christine Souza's percussion students will perform on the first concert of the series, scheduled Tuesday. The Flute Ensemble and OK Woodwind Quintet, under the direction of Valerie Watts, will perform on Sept. 18. Additional concerts will feature works for piano, viola, tuba, euphonium organ and voice.
“There are several places to enjoy your lunch break; why not the museum?” said Katie Parker, the museum's audience development manager. “This is a great collaboration between the museum and Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts. It's also a wonderful opportunity for the community to see what fine arts students and faculty are achieving this fall, as well as what's new at the museum.”
Museum admission is free on Tuesdays. A complete listing of upcoming Tuesday Noon Concerts dates and performers is available online at www.ou.edu/fjjma. For more information, call 325-4938.
