Here is a look at what coaches and players were saying after Oklahoma's 69-13 victory over Florida A&M:

* Freshman receiver Sterling Shepard on his first career reception, which came across the middle into traffic:

“Your adrenaline is pumping so fast, so you can't feel it really. Everybody told me when I got to the sideline, ‘You got popped a little bit,' but I didn't really realize it.”

* Sooners offensive coordinator Josh Heupel, when asked whether he needed to talk to the band about letting Kenny Stills slide into the brick wall behind the end zone in the second quarter:

“I didn't see the end of the play, but first of all tell the quarterback not to overthrow it. We'll start with that, then we'll see if I need to make a call for the other.”

* Freshman Trey Metoyer, on improved timing between Landry Jones and the receivers:

“Timing was a lot better today, but it can get better. We want to get to the point where he can throw those balls with his eyes closed, and we're right there.”

* Coach Bob Stoops on the Sooners' defensive performance:

“Defense was really good, except the one play (a 75-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter).”

* FAMU coach Joe Taylor, on what his team got out of the game:

“The bottom line — to come up and be completely overmatched, but to see our guys give completely great effort, make some plays, get some turnovers and move the ball — that lets you know that there's a lot of potential in this club.”
