The Oklahoman's Berry Tramel took questions from readers in Wednesday's Power Lunch Chat. Join our Power Lunch Chats Monday-Friday at 11 a.m. on Below is a complete transcript of today's chat.

NewsOKSports 10:30 a.m. Berry will be logging in at 11 a.m. You can start submitting your questions now.
Berry Tramel 10:53 a.m. Hey, everybody, I'm sitting here ready to go. So send in your questions and we'll get started.
Guest 10:58 a.m. So I guess the FSU and Clemson to the Big XII talk has flatlined and been pronounced dead
Berry Tramel 10:59 a.m. I would assume so. The rumors seem flat now, and the demise of the ACC was greatly exaggerated. Getting give notre Dame games a year against ACC teams will be a huge lift for the ACC, in every regard. Gate, TV contract, general perception.
DanTheMan-Stillwater 10:59 a.m. Berry, you have to admit...The officiating was HORRIBLE in AZ...
Berry Tramel 11:00 a.m. It was awful. I graded it a D in the Sunday paper. It was bad, bad, bad. The only thing worse was the way OSU played.
Mike 11:00 a.m. Isn't all this hype about Williams and panic about the OU team a little bit premature? After all there have only been two game.
Berry Tramel 11:01 a.m. One game, really. Shouldn't count Florida A&M. So yes. Great points. The hype about Williams is premature, and the panic, too. OU could have a great season with Dom Whaley at tailback. But it is interesting that Williams has clearly been the best Sooner runner through one game and one exhibition.
Guest 11:01 a.m. What is OSU's largest weakness?
Berry Tramel 11:01 a.m. Looks to me like it's defending the middle of the field against the pass. The linebackers and safeties were horrible vs. Arizona. Couldn't stop anything. And the receivers need to start catching the ball.
Chris 11:01 a.m. Have heard alot of sports people say this week they don't think Harden will re-sign with Thunder. What do you think and what is your percentage chance he re-signs?
Berry Tramel 11:02 a.m. I don't see how it's going to happen. Even if the Thunder signs him at $12.5 million, it's going to cost OKC quite a bit in luxury tax. But signing him at $15M per year? No way. I think he plays this year without an extension.
Mike 11:02 a.m. Are the big chunks of yards that are being picked up on the ground against the OU defense due mostly to overpursuit? If so, how easily fixable is that?
Berry Tramel 11:03 a.m. Well, a couple of the runs by the UTEP tailback weren't "overpursuit," I wouldn't say, but it's from the same family. The ends didn't stay in their gaps, they got sucked in and away he went. I assume it's easily correctible. If I can see it, they can fix it.
Guest 11:03 a.m. What percentage chance do you think Harden will be on OKC's roster one year from today?
Berry Tramel 11:03 a.m. 30 percent.
Guest 11:04 a.m. I hope the Thunder don't re-sign Harden. He is very good player, but I don't think he is a good enough player to hamstring the franchise. I would rather have a lesser player and lil more flexibility
Berry Tramel 11:05 a.m. Well, you've got to have somebody. The truth about the NBA is that unlike MLB or the NFL, you generally can't replace a $12 million player with two $6 million players. So it's tricky.
Joe 11:05 a.m. OU/KState. What is your prediction (a week early)?
Berry Tramel 11:05 a.m. I like the Sooners. They won 58-17 last year in Manhattan, and the truth is, OU defends teams like this rather well. I think the onus is on the Wldcats.
Ryan H 11:05 a.m. Will Lunt have a Big 12 Championship under his belt in 4 years?
Berry Tramel 11:06 a.m. I will say yes. Lunt looks exceptional as a true freshman. The biggest worry I would have is if he stays just three years.
Mike 11:06 a.m. It seems as though Metoyer is having difficulty getting open against lesser opponents. Is this just getting acclimated to the college game something more?
Berry Tramel 11:06 a.m. I don't know, but clearly, he wasn't getting open vs. UTEP. There were dang few open receivers. Getting open is a hidden art.
Ryan 11:07 a.m. With boxing dead and baseball dying with the youth, what are the 3 most popular sports in 50 years?
Berry Tramel 11:08 a.m. Basketball, football (unless it starts a slow descent, because of the gruesome aspects of the game) and let's go with some kind of NASCAR/Xtreme sports hybrid.
Guest 11:08 a.m. Do you expect the Cowboys to schedule anymore night PAC-12 games in the future? They were playing close to 1am here in the 4th quarter the other night...
Berry Tramel 11:09 a.m. No. I don't expecte the Cowboys to schedule anything with the PAc-12 in the future. OU, either. Both got a bad taste for Pac-12 officiating.
Guest 11:09 a.m. If the reports were accurate, and there was definitely a lot of smoke, but the deal to make was Harden to Charlotte for the second pick and take Beal. But Presti was in a bad spot because you cannot count on a rookie to have a big role on championship level team. I think that Harden will play this year and Presti will try to find the best sign and trade option next summer
Berry Tramel 11:10 a.m. Can you do a sign and trade with a restricted free agent? I'm not sure. Some say Presti will deal Harden in February, at the trade deadline. But that's fooling with a championship-level team. I didn't like the Charlotte trade then and I don't like it now. I also don't know if it was ever on the table.
Mike 11:11 a.m. I heard BBJ this morning say he thinks the Sooners are more of a 20-25 team than a top ten team. Outside of Alabama has anyone really separated themselves? USC didn't look too great against Syracuse.
Berry Tramel 11:11 a.m. 20-25? That's silly. Do you know how bad teams are down in the 20-25 range? There are about 8-10 exceptional teams every year, then a group of quality teams, 12 or so. Then just a bunch of yahoos. OU is clearly one of the top two groups. We'll find out which.
Bob 11:11 a.m. ESPN ranked the Montreal Canadians as the best uniform in the 4 major sports. What's your favorite uni?
Berry Tramel 11:12 a.m. New York football Giants, white jerseys, blue helmets, gray pants. But I love the Packers and 49ers and Jets. And the Bucs. Probably some more I'm forgetting. I loved Marquette's vintage 1970s uniforms.
Rixon 11:12 a.m. How big of a threat to football's popularity is the concussion issue?
Berry Tramel 11:13 a.m. No threat to its popularity. Big threat to its existence. You've got to change something, or the game will expire on its own.
CB 11:13 a.m. DO we know what Directv channel the new sooner sports will be on?
Berry Tramel 11:14 a.m. Fox Sports Southwest will have most of the OU content. So whatever channel that is. OU will be on Fox Sports Oklahoma/Southwest, Fox College Sports and Fox Sports Plus.
BV 11:14 a.m. Jimmy Johnson was the best I have seen with respect to evaluating talent not recognized by the major recruiting sites. Who do you rate as the best in the B 12 at evaluating talent? It isn't UT!
Berry Tramel 11:15 a.m. I would say that OSU and K-State, and Tech in the Leach days, have been very good. Probably TCU, too. We'll see.
Guest 11:15 a.m. I understand Al and Jim's point on scheduling, but I agree with you. If you keep playing only Savannah State and Florida A&M types with no marquee non con games, at some point attendance will be affected. I think it already is, some national column noted subpar attendance figures at many places opening weekend, including so called big name programs
Berry Tramel 11:16 a.m. I don't understand their point at all. It is NOT better to play a nobody and win than to play a real game and lose. You haven't accomplished a thing. College football in some ways is a house of cards, with so many exhibitions being played.
Rixon 11:17 a.m. One dinner... Two seats... You and Traber or Al?
Berry Tramel 11:17 a.m. Depends on where we are. A big city? I'd take Traber. He knows where to eat. Campus locales? I'd take Al.
Mike 11:17 a.m. Tiger has been playing very well, but it seems as though Rory is just better than him. Do you see Tiger regaining his dominating form, or is this what we can expect from him from now on?
Berry Tramel 11:18 a.m. I don't see anyone regaining Tiger's dominating form ever again. I think this is the Tiger we've got. Which doesn't mean he won't win. I think he'll win some more majors. I'm encouraged by his game this year.
Tom 11:18 a.m. Your thoughts on the Dallas Cowboys first game, Thanks
Berry Tramel 11:19 a.m. An excellent victory. Romo looked good. The receivers made plays. The defense got a pass rush and well-covered the Giant receivers. DeMarco had a big day. Great opener for Dallas.
frezinhott 11:19 a.m. If the ACC $50 mil exit fee doesn't go into effect immediately, then doesn't that push FSU out the door sooner rather than later?
Berry Tramel 11:19 a.m. Not if FSU doesn't want to leave.
Smokin Joe 11:19 a.m. If you didn't have to work on a Saturday, would you rather attend a football game or sit at home and watch them all?
Berry Tramel 11:20 a.m. Watch them all. Not even close. I would make a bad fan. Too many years of sitting with my computer, doing all kinds of stuff. Sitting with a decent class of people, for the most part. I don';t know how you fans do it. You might be seated next to a knucklehead, on a 95-degree day (not that we don't swelter in some pressboxes), with no access to decent replays or stats. No thanks. Not for me.
Guest 11:21 a.m. Yes, you can sign and trade restricted free agents. Orlando traded restricted free agent Ryan Anderson to New Orleans. So I bet that Presti can at least get something for James and the new team will get his bird rights
Berry Tramel 11:22 a.m. Well, I guess that's another option. It's a limited option, though, since it has to work for both teams. And I doubt anyone would do it, because the original team has to threaten to match, and you have to believe the threat is real. No one would believe the threat from the Thunder is real. If OKC was going to keep Harden, it would keep him.
Chris 11:23 a.m. What do you think of OU's new TV deal? I was expecting something similar to UT's but think this will be good. Will it bring in additional revenue for OU?
Berry Tramel 11:25 a.m. OU could have gone with a Longhorn Network style channel, but it would not have been as good as UT's for several reasons. 1. Financially nowhere close to the $300 million deal Texas got. 2. It would not have been an ESPN startup, I don;t think. The new Sooner Sports TV won't bring in a ton of money, I don't think, but it will make some. And the biggest key is distribution. More people will have access to OU's llmited programming on Fox than the 24/7 Longhorn Network, just because Bevo TV has had trouble getting on to certain cable and satellite systems.
dave 11:25 a.m. Goodmornin mr trammel, do u think a line up of westbrook, durant, pj111, ibaka and thabeet would be effective vs lakers for stretches
Berry Tramel 11:25 a.m. No. I don't think Thabeet can play. He'll have to prove it to me. And PJ3 might be a star, but I would bet against it, at least for the next couple of years.
CB 11:26 a.m. Will Sacramento move to Seattle now? If not, do we really need another expansion team to water down the talent pool in the NBA?
Berry Tramel 11:27 a.m. There will be no more NBA expansion. The Kings could move. The Hornets are never going to be financially stable. Charlotte is already tired of the NBA again. The NBA needs to get out of Canada. Seattle will have several options.
Lulu 11:27 a.m. Any way you can (or want to) expand your segment with Jim and Al from 40 minutes. It's great radio!
Berry Tramel 11:28 a.m. It would be OK with me. Start a campaign.
Berry Tramel 11:28 a.m. I assume. Alfred Morris the Redskin tailback who had a big game against New Orleans.
Mike 11:28 a.m. Alfred Morris. Fool's Gold?
Berry Tramel 11:29 a.m. Sorry, got those out of order.
Guest 11:29 a.m. the people who run college football seem very arrogant and don't see/care that the sport is a house of cards by scheduling such subpar matchups. I only see Jim and Al's point in that maybe a team can steal a better bowl game by scheduling wins
Berry Tramel 11:29 a.m. Better bowl game? I doubt it. Most bowl assignments are made not by record, but by prestige and crowd count.
dave 11:30 a.m. Do u think harden will be in the starting line up this season also
Berry Tramel 11:30 a.m. No. Why would they? Harden makes his living scoring off the bench. He's finishing up on the court. Why worry about starting?
Lulu 11:30 a.m. Tomahawk Chop, TD Jesus, Howard's Rock, etc... What's the best college tradition in the country?
Berry Tramel 11:31 a.m. Army-Navy. The boats on Lake Washington and the Tennessee River. The great old trophies, like the Little Brown Jug and the Old Oaken Bucket. Chief Osceola and the Sooner Schooner and just about any mounted livestock.
Kelly 11:31 a.m. Bob Stoops apparently decent guy in most aspects of his life. You have opinion on hostile posture in pressers?
Berry Tramel 11:33 a.m. I don't think he's hostile. I just think he doesn't suffer fools gladly. And by that I mean, if he think it's a bad question, he's not going to play along. Now, Bob might be wrong about the quality of the question, but he's not going to pretend. The OU coaches think Roy Finch is a fourth-team tailback, and no matter much we want him to, Stoops is not going to go into detail about Finch's deficiencies.
Canton 11:33 a.m. Best game you've ever watched?
Berry Tramel 11:34 a.m. Football? 1992 Putnam City North-Yukon was hard to beat. Basketball? Kansas-OSU at Allen Fieldhouse, March 2005, was fabulous. Softball? USA-Austraila, 1996 Olympics.
Rich 11:34 a.m. I was really surprised with how much the starters for OSU played vs Arizona especially with all the hoopla about the tremendous depth. Do you think it was more of the zona uptempo offense that caused that or was it Gundy not totally trusting the buck ups?
Berry Tramel 11:35 a.m. Lack of trust. I think OSU's depth was overrated, by the coaches. They don't trust the new guys to play.
Canton 11:35 a.m. If Seattle gets a team, instant top 10 rivalry in sports?
Berry Tramel 11:35 a.m. No. Who cares? Will we care about Seattle? Seattle might care when the Thunder comes to town. But when the former Kings (or whoever) comes to OKC? No way. Give us the Mavs or Spurs or Lakers or Nuggets.
Slinker McPickle 11:36 a.m. Will Durant win a championship with OKC?
Berry Tramel 11:36 a.m. I'll say yes. Multiple.
dave 11:36 a.m. Its mind boggling for harden to say he wants to be there wich he knws he will have to sacrifice but yet still people saying he will leave
Berry Tramel 11:37 a.m. If Harden wants to be in OKC, he can be. But he won't get $15 million a year to play in OKC.
Slinker McPickle 11:37 a.m. What would you like the BIg 12 to change its name to (assuming you do)? Great Plains Conference?
Berry Tramel 11:38 a.m. If the Big 12 changes its name to the Great Plains Conference, I will resign my commission, rent a car and drive straight through the plate glass of the Great Plains Conference headquarters. What an awful name. I'd stick with the Big 12.
Guest 11:38 a.m. What are the chances Monken bolts for a HC position?
Berry Tramel 11:38 a.m. Decent, I'd say. OSU assistants are getting all kinds of jobs. Fedora, Holgorsen, Beckman. No reason Monken wouldn't, too.
Bobby 11:38 a.m. Have you seen the John Clayton "This is Sportscenter" commercial? I about feel out of my chair when I saw it.
Berry Tramel 11:38 a.m. Yes, with the long hair and stuff? He's a hoot.
Berry Tramel 11:39 a.m. OK, everybody. Good stuff. Talk to you next week.
