High school players of the week: Alex Davis, Sam Barry and Madison Dobbs

Defending 3A state cross country champion Alex Davis bested an elite field of runners in Friday's Dogpack at Edmond Santa Fe High School to win the first 5K race for girls in an Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association sanctioned event.

Cross Country

Alex Davis, Plainview

The defending 3A state cross country champion bested an elite field of runners in Friday's Dogpack at Edmond Santa Fe High School to win the first 5K race for girls in an Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association sanctioned event.

Davis ran a time of 17:53.50, finishing ahead of a group of runners from larger schools which included defending 6A state champ Emily Helms of Mustang, who placed second overall.

Softball

Sam Barry, Dale

Barry had three hits, including a two-run triple and a double in the Lady Pirates' 8-5 win over Bethel on Monday.

Volleyball

Madison Dobbs, Westmoore

Dobbs, a senior outside hitter, was an all-tournament selection in leading the Jaguars to the championship at the Southmoore Tournament over the weekend. With Dobbs powering the attack, Westmoore is 6-1 in its last seven matches.
