Financial officers honored

The Certification of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the city of Norman by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its annual financial report. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The award honors the work of Finance Director Anthony Francisco and accountants Debbie Whitaker and Clint Mercer. This is the 21st consecutive year the city finance department has won the award.

Agency sets open house

Norman Addiction Information and Counseling, 215 W Linn St., will host an open house Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. to celebrate 40 years of service. The come-and-go event will include a brief presentation followed by a client's personal story of recovery. For more information, call 321-0022.

Composting demonstrated

The Cleveland County Master Gardener Association will hold a composting demonstration at 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at the Demonstration and Teaching Garden at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, 601 E Robinson St. The free event will include instruction on the techniques of composting.
