TULSA (AP) — The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame has until the first week of October to pay off some $60,000 in back expenses or Tulsa County commissioners say the center could face eviction.

The nonprofit has had a string of financial troubles in the past few years. It had to be bailed out by the county to the tune of more than $220,000 in 2010.

This spring, a check cut by the organization for nearly $4,000, meant to cover a half-year's insurance, bounced.

A recent benefit concert has made a dent in the debt, but the organization is still tens of thousands of dollars short.

The Hall of Fame's leaders have pledged to change their business model and are scrambling to increase memberships.
