Grass fire forces evacuations in western Oklahoma

Published: September 24, 2012

ANADARKO (AP) — Authorities say a large grass fire has forced the evacuation of several homes west of Anadarko.

Caddo County Emergency Management Director Larry McDuffey said Monday he hasn't received any immediate reports of injuries or structural damage with the blaze, which has burned at least 100 acres.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Oklahoma Highway 9 between Caddo County Road 2620 and U.S. Highway 62 has been closed to traffic because of smoke blowing across the road.
