High school volleyball: Bethany, Community Christian School among 4A regional hosts

The volleyball postseason arrives Thursday with the start of Class 4A regional tournaments across the state.

Bethany and Community Christian School in Norman are the only Oklahoma City-area hosts, with tournaments also set for top-ranked Elgin, Weatherford, Oklahoma Union, Verdigris, Okay and Tulsa Rogers.

Bethany, ranked No. 8 in the Class 4A and the No. 1 seed in the regional, will host ninth-ranked Mount St. Mary among the eight teams in its regional.

Bethany won the only regular-season meeting between the two teams, 3-0. Their paths did not cross last weekend in the Chisholm Trail Conference Tournament, which was won by Class 5A No. 4 Christian Heritage.

Cache is the top seed at Community Christian's regional.

The Class 4A state tournament is set for Oct. 5-6 at Chickasha High School.

Heritage Hall, Christian Heritage and Shawnee are among the hosts for Class 5A regionals, to be played Tuesday.

Oklahoma Bible, Tulsa Washington, Cascia Hall, Catoosa and Lincoln Christian will also host 5A regionals, which consist of only four teams each.
