Design work begins on Edmond’s Sooner Road bridge repairs

An 87-year-old bridge in Edmond was closed after damage to the timber supports was found. It could be closed up to six months while design work and repairs are under way.

EDMOND — A bridge on Sooner Road that was shut down due to deterioration of the supports might be closed for up to six months.

The 87-year-old bridge between Covell and Coffee Creek roads was closed last week after state Department of Transportation officials found significant erosion around the timber supports, City Engineer Steve Manek said.
