CHOCTAW — Choctaw is competing in a nationwide recycling contest, and the community has some ground to make up as the competition heads into its second half.
The Green Choice Recycling Challenge, sponsored by SC Johnson, aims to encourage waste reduction and promote household recycling. There is one representative from each state. Halfway through the challenge, Choctaw is ranked 43rd.
There are three months remaining in the contest. A $100,000 grant from SC Johnson is at stake. The six-month challenge kicked off July 2. The winner will be announced Jan. 13.
Residents are asked to self-report their recycling activities at recyclebank.com.
