Dallas-based Huitt-Zollars Inc. said Wednesday that it had acquired Coon Engineering Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

Bryan Coon, now a Huitt-Zollars vice president, said he couldn't be happier with the sale of the company that he, his father, Edward and sister, Patti, started 28 years ago.

“I haven't stopped smiling,” he said at the company offices at 2832 W Wilshire Blvd.

Coon Engineering, founded in 1984, provides land surveying and planning, engineering and information technology services for a variety of projects in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Colorado, Kansas and Arizona.

Projects include work on Dallas Cowboys Stadium; the Project 180 downtown Oklahoma City renovation; Remington Park; the Saratoga Farms residential addition in Edmond and several golf clubs including Edmond's Oak Tree.

Huitt-Zollars provides planning, design, program management and construction management services.

The firm has offices in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and El Paso in Texas; Albuquerque and Rio Rancho in New Mexico; Denver; Phoenix; Seattle and Tacoma in Washington; and Thousand Oaks, Irvine and Ontario in California.

Coon is office manager of the Oklahoma City location. He said he and Huitt-Zollars became acquainted while competing for work for the Oklahoma Transportation Department.
