Oklahoma football notebook: Sooners QB Landry Jones continues to set records
Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones hasn't been the most popular player during his tenure.
But week after week, Jones continues to set records and move up all-time leader boards.

With Saturday's 63-21 whipping of Texas, Jones became the all-time winningest quarterback in Oklahoma history with his 33rd win.
Jones passed Steve Davis, who had 32 wins from 1973-75 and who watched the game from the Cotton Bowl.
Davis found Jones on the field after the game.
“I couldn't be more happy for Landry and the team,” Davis said. “This could really be the impetus for something really special for this team.”
Before last week's game, Davis wrote Jones a letter in which he spoke out about the criticism Jones had faced after the loss to Kansas State.
Jones also became the third quarterback in OU history to start and play the majority of the game in three wins over Texas, joining Jimmy Harris and Davis.
Jones' 321 passing yards also moved him into seventh place on the all-time NCAA passing list, going ahead of Philip Rivers with 13,731 yards. Hawaii's Colt Brennan (14,193) is next on the list.
BELLDOZER MORPHS A BIT
The Blake Bell “Belldozer” package has been almost exclusively used in short-yardage and in the red zone — until Saturday.
The Sooners showed a willingness to use the formation in different situations and it started on the very first drive.
After Bell converted on a third and one to put OU at the 34, he remained in the game instead of giving way immediately to Jones.
Bell picked up two yards and Jones returned but it showed another dimension to the offense that has been so successful for the Sooners since last year's game against Kansas State.
Later, the Sooners used Bell on a third and four from the Texas 19.
Bell was stopped short of the first down.
OFFENSIVE LINE STANDS STRONG
One of the reasons for the Sooners improved running game against Texas was the play of the offensive line.
“I thought the tackles did a great job,” center Gabe Ikard said. “I mean, they're All-American ends.”
