In “Robert Ludlum's The Janus Reprisal” (Grand Central Publishing, $26.99) by Jamie Freveletti, Covert-One operative Lt. Col. Jon Smith is attending a World Health Organization meeting at The Hague when the his hotel is attacked by terrorists.
The attack is part of a successful plan to free Oman Dattar, who is held for trial at The Hague Criminal Court.
Smith, who has had previous encounters with Dattar, finds out he's one of the people targeted by the terrorists and also discovers they've taken biological materials stored in the hotel safe. Dattar has plans for the biomaterials he's stolen, and they involve mass murder.
One of the other people targeted is Rebecca Nolan, a Wall Street money manager and Dattar really needs her alive. She may control his future.
The plot is familiar, but author Freveletti gives us a fast moving, well written thriller.
