Charles Hollingsworth, co-chair of the Cleveland County Christmas Store, said the agency has been an annual tradition for more than four decades. A record number of applicants was set in 2011.
“The Christmas Store gives low-income individuals a chance to shop for their families and create a meaningful Christmas,” Hollingsworth said. “Families partner with volunteers in preparing the store as a way of earning their choice of gifts for Christmas.”
Co-chair Charlotte Lovett said without the community’s generosity, the store wouldn’t be possible.
“For more than 40 years, volunteers have donated their time to make sure families in Cleveland County can give their loved ones a plentiful Christmas,” Lovett said. “We are grateful for all the support in helping people give their families a wonderful holiday.”
