Oklahoma football: Bob Stoops not happy with Landry Jones bashing

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops took exception Monday to fans clamoring for quarterback Landry Jones to be benched.

"People aren't very intelligent about football," Stoops said at his weekly press conference when asked about fans' opinions on Jones.

"Landry had a great night the other night. Without Landry, we're not in that game."

Jones threw for 356 yards on 35-for-51 passing on Saturday in the Sooners' 30-13 loss to Notre Dame.

"Again, people, whatever occupation they have, it's like me trying to do what they do," Stoops said. "They'd probably scoff at that.

"Landry is a great quarterback and had a heckuva night the other night."

The Sooners will look to rebound from the loss on Saturday in Ames, Iowa, as OU takes on Iowa State. The game kicks off at 11 a.m. and will be televised by ABC (Cox 8). Here is a look at what else Stoops had to say Monday at his weekly press conference:
