Oklahoma City school district to host school academy fair

Oklahoma City Public Schools will host a preview night for middle school students and their families to learn about the district’s academy system.

Middle school students will have the chance to learn about the Oklahoma City Public Schools academy system at an event next week.

The Career Academy Showcase for seventh- and eighth-grade students and their families will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at John Marshall High School, 12201 N Portland Ave. The event is come-and-go.

The district has six academies at five high schools:

•Capitol Hill, engineering

•John Marshall, finance

•Oklahoma Centennial, information technology

•Northeast, health sciences

•Northeast, engineering

•Star Spencer, hospitality and tourism

Two academies will be added in fall 2013:

•Douglass Mid-High, law and public safety

•Northwest Classen, health sciences
