The differences of opinion between Roger Clegg and Anil V. Gollahalli (Points of View, Oct. 26) regarding admission standards to the University of Oklahoma are a great example of doublespeak. Clegg cited specific statistics on preferential treatment for some affirmative action-protected students. Gollahalli used typical attorney doublespeak by emphasizing that the University of Oklahoma hasn't violated any law. Both are accurate. There are indeed lower standards accepted for some students. These same standards are allowed and embraced under current laws.

Gollahalli needs to egress out of his clouded attorney mindset and view reality in a simpler, more honest perspective.
