A jury convicted a Del City woman Friday of killing a man prosecutors said she intended to rob.

The Oklahoma County panel deliberated about four hours before finding Amanda Hunter, 29, guilty of first-degree murder in the June 12, 2011, stabbing death of Osmani Enrique Chicas Melgar, 25, in his apartment at 5800 NW 34.

Melgar died of stab wounds to the neck and torso, according to the medical examiner's office.

Jurors recommended life in prison for Hunter, who is set to be sentenced Nov. 30.

Prosecutors alleged Hunter was a prostitute who knew Melgar was a drug dealer and who went to his apartment to rob him of drugs and money, partially wrapping him in plastic wrap before stabbing him to death.

Defense attorneys argued during the weeklong trial that Hunter acted in self-defense, wrapping one of the victim's arms to his torso after he'd raped her, and then stabbing him after he stabbed her first.

Hunter testified about going to Melgar's to talk to him about his having taken advantage of one of her friends, then passing out, her attorney said. The defendant said she may have been drugged and told jurors she remembers coming to while being raped by Melgar and his roommate, the attorney said.
