Oklahoma State women's basketball: Toni Young dominates as Cowgirls rip Central Oklahoma

The senior star had 26 points, 11 rebounds, four blocked shots and four steals.

STILLWATER — Toni Young dominated in several areas Wednesday night, and Oklahoma State crushed Central Oklahoma 118-43 in an exhibition women's basketball game in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The star senior scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Young added four blocked shots and four steals. The former Del City High standout helped the Cowgirls charge to a 12-0 lead before Central Oklahoma scored its first-two points on Courtney Harper free throws. UCO (1-2 in exhibition play) trailed by 13 points with 9:08 left in the first half, before the Cowgirls used a 23-6 run to take a 30-point lead into halftime.

UCO would not get any closer than 30 as No. 23-ranked Oklahoma State continued its assault in the second half. For the game, the Cowgirls shot 64.9 percent from the field, out-rebounded the Bronchos 51-16 and forced 25 turnovers.

McKenzie Solberg, a freshman from Chandler, led UCO with 11 points.

Oklahoma State will open the regular season 5:30 p.m. Friday against Cal Poly in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Central Oklahoma, a Division II program, opens the season at 3 p.m. Saturday against Minnesota-Duluth at the St. Mary's Classic in San Antonio.
