Author M. M. Cox will be signing copies of her recently published young adult (YA) novel, Accidental Mobster, at 2 p.m. Nov. 18 at Full Circle Bookstore in Oklahoma City.
Cox is an Edmond resident and OU alumnus.
The book is the first in a three-book series from Bluewood Publishing. The story is told from the perspective of Danny Higgins, a poor teenager who moves in with his wealthy godfather.
Danny quickly discovers his new extravagant lifestyle comes at a big — and illegal — price, and when he’s tagged by an undercover FBI agent to help take down the mob leadership, Danny is forced to choose between his loyalty to his godfather and saving innocent lives.
A fateful series of events in Cox’s own life led to the achievement of signing a contract with a traditional publishing company in an increasingly competitive field.
In the summer of 2010, just after her first child was born, Cox and her husband moved to the Oklahoma City area from the Washington, D.C., metro for her husband’s job.
Cox left her job as a public relations specialist for a government agency and began working to publish her novel, which she contracted with Bluewood in 2011. Accidental Mobster is her debut novel.
The 232 page book is available in print format for $12.99 and in e-book format for $2.99. The sequel, Undercover Wiseguy, is scheduled for release in 2013. The series website is www.teenmobster.com.
