Cultivating and harnessing our strengths and putting them into actionable economic benefit have made Oklahoma City a focus and envy for many around the country. Keeping up the momentum is one of our challenges and opportunities as we look to the future. One of the strengths I see in our city and citizens is their creativity. This especially became clear to me this summer as I watched our customers do a remarkable job of finding meaningful ways to save energy and save money with the smart-grid technology. Electric utilities throughout the country ask me how we did it. It's easy for me to say, “We have smart and creative customers!”
One of the opportunities I see for our city is to strengthen our claim as a creative epicenter for entrepreneurial leadership. Creative Oklahoma is helping develop this strength by hosting the State of Creativity Forum on Tuesday. Of special note is a keynote by Peter Diamandis, CEO and founder of the X PRIZE Foundation on “How to Incentivize Breakthrough Thinking.”
Oklahoma City will again be on the national and world stage with the forum event as we're the only place in the United States that has this designation. How did this happen? All you have to do is look around and see the results of what our citizens do best, marshall our strengths, solve the problems, visualize our future and have a passion for doing it right.
At OGE, we call this, “Positive Energy Together.”
