STILLWATER — Clint Chelf will start at quarterback for Oklahoma State against West Virginia Saturday afternoon, according the Cowboy Radio Network pregame broadcast.

Chelf replaced starter Wes Lunt in the second half of the Cowboys’ loss at Kansas State last week after Lunt suffered an apparent head injury. Chelf was sharp in emergency duty, completing 16 of his 27 passes for 233 yards, one touchdown and one interception while rushing for 33 yards.

Chelf, a redshirt junior who began the season as the No. 3 quarterback, will be OSU’s third starting quarterback this season, as the position has been hit hard by injuries.

Lunt missed nearly four games because of a knee/ankle injury sustained against Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 15. Backup J.W. Walsh started three games in Lunt's place, but suffered what was identified by OSU coach Mike Gundy as a season-ending knee injury against Iowa State on Oct. 20.

Both Lunt and Chelf, however, were in uniform and participated in pregame warmups Saturday afternoon.

Chelf previously spent two seasons as Brandon Weeden’s backup.
