Deer Creek kicker Dillon Noble hit a 58-yard field goal in the Antlers' 52-14 victory over Ardmore Friday night.

“He had a little bit of wind, but he hammered it,” Deer Creek coach Grant Gower said. “It would have been good from probably 65 yards.”

Noble's previous long was from 45 yards. The junior, who also plays soccer, is 67 of 67 on extra points this season and has connected on seven of 10 field goals.

But the 58-yard field goal is not even a school record. In a Class 3A state semifinal game against Seminole in 2001, Deer Creek kicker Luke Roberts connected on a state record 65-yard field goal.

Roberts' record boot, however, was a free kick off the tee. The Antlers had called a fair catch on a punt, and with time for just one play before halftime, Deer Creek opted to try for a long-distance field goal on a free kick.

Deer Creek's current kicking coach is former Oklahoma State star and NFL All-Pro kicker Cary Blanchard.

“(Blanchard) is able to really help (Noble) with the mechanics of it and the mental side of kicking,” Gower said.
