Oklahoma State football notebook: Red Raiders have not forgotten 2011 thrashing
Texas Tech safety D.J. Johnson said he never imagined that his team would suffer a 60-point beating from Cowboys. “But Oklahoma State has been a good football team for some time now,” he said. “They've started to get credit and respect. And it's about time.”
Texas Tech struggled down the stretch a year ago, losing seven of its last eight games.
During that slump, one loss stands out more than the rest: OSU's 66-6 rout in Lubbock.

“I try to wash that out of my mind,” said Red Raiders safety D.J. Johnson. “That was a tough one, man. I've never in my wildest dreams — nightmares even — imagined getting beat like that.”
Beyond that, Johnson said, his senior class has never beaten the Cowboys.
“People focus on the UTs and (teams) like that, but Oklahoma State has been a good football team for some time now,” Johnson said. “They've started to get credit and respect. And it's about time.
“It's going to influence us or impact us to want to go out there and grind harder, go out there and play to the best of our ability. We remember what happened last year and we definitely want to make sure that that doesn't occur again.
“If possible, we want to reverse it and make it occur the other way.”
GILBERT, STEWART CLAIM BIG 12 HONORS
OSU's Josh Stewart and Justin Gilbert were both honored by the Big 12 Monday, with Stewart named Offensive Player of the Week and Gilbert Special Teams Player of the Week.
Stewart scored on a 46-yard run and also totaled 13 receptions for 172 yards with two more scores.
“It means a lot,” Stewart said. “All these great players in the Big 12, and you get chosen one of the best players that week … that's great. And it means a lot to me.”
