SALLISAW — Authorities say a man shot and killed his brother after an argument Tuesday night in Sequoyah County.
Sheriff Ron Lockhart says the shooting happened at a home about 5 miles east of Sallisaw. The sheriff says dispatchers were talking with a 911 caller when a gunshot was heard in the background.
Deputies then discovered a 37-year-old man in a garage with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Authorities say the man was pronounced dead at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital.
Family members tell a local television station that the victim was fighting with one of his brothers at the time of the shooting. Relatives tell the TV station that they believe the shooter was acting in self-defense.
No one has been arrested and authorities continue to investigate.
