When he took over as Kansas' football coach, Charlie Weis was appalled not so much at the Jayhawks' 2-10 record in 2011, but at KU's lack of competitiveness.
But Turner Gill had his team ready last November in Ames, Iowa, where Kansas lost just 13-10. Now the Cyclones go to Lawrence to play a team desperate for a victory.
The Jayhawks have continued to play for Weis, despite a 1-9 record. Kansas could have beaten OSU (lost 20-14), should have beaten Texas (lost 21-17) and took Texas Tech to overtime (lost 41-34).
The pressure is mounting on Iowa State. The 5-5 Cyclones have lost four of five and still need a victory to become bowl eligible.
Iowa State is a 6 1/2-point favorite, but let's go with Kansas in the upset.
