Oklahoma scene: OCU's Katrina Nolan earns All-America status

Nolan finished 21st in the NAIA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, becoming OCU's first NAIA All-American.

Oklahoma City University freshman Katrina Nolan finished 21st Saturday in the NAIA Cross Country Championships in Vancouver, Wash., becoming OCU's first NAIA All-American.

Nolan finished the women's 5K race in 18 minutes, 23 seconds.

Freshman Arya Bahreini, a former Edmond Santa Fe standout, also placed 37th with a time of 25:27 in the men's 8K race.

OCU EDGES BRONCHOS

Charlton Jones made 1 of 2 free throws with 6 seconds remaining to aid OCU to a 68-66 victory over Central Oklahoma on Saturday at Hamilton Field House.

With 11 seconds remaining, UCO's June Carter made a free throw that put the Bronchos within one, but Jones sealed it five seconds later.

Troynell Adams led the Stars (3-1) with 21 points, including 12 straight in the second half that helped OCU gain the lead for good.

UCO (1-1) was led by Seth Heckart's 15 points.

OCU plays at Langston on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

OCU WOMEN ROUT PARK

OCU senior Lauren Gober, a former Newcastle standout, scored 26 points and the 10th-ranked Stars routed Park (Mo.) 90-36 at the Breckon Sports Center in Parkville, Mo.

Gober also had seven rebounds, two blocks and four steals. She also made six 3-pointers, helping her set a career-high in points. She also scored 24 Tuesday against Langston.

OCU (3-2) faces Northwood (Texas) on Friday in the Oklahoma Baptist Classic at the Noble Complex at 1 p.m.
