BRIGHT STAR

Event: Children's Starlight Ball.

Venue: Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.

To benefit: Children's Hospital Foundation in its mission to further pediatric research, education and clinical care.

Chairmen: Kirsten and David Griffin were event co-chairmen and Jeanetta and Everett Dobson were honorary co-chairmen.

Decor: Eventures created a stunning Tuscany decor that offered a kaleidoscope of bright colors and psychedelic-like lighting. A dominant feature was the huge CFH flowered letters that dominated one wall. Table chairs were in hot pink with black and white striped skirts. Trees flanked the entrance hall and soft votive lights with greenery embellished the mantel. One arch covered in greenery featured two children's swings.

The evening: Cocktails, dinner, a live auction and dancing to a band billed as “the think big band'' kept the evening fun. A piece of Desmond Mason's art was auctioned.

Event: 2012 Creativity Abassadors Gala.

Where: Civic Center Meinders Hall of Mirrors.

To Benefit: The Oklahoma ArtScience Prize.

2012 Creativity Ambassador Inductees: Jane Jayroe Gamble, Jesse Tabish and Desmond Mason were presented by Gov. Mary Fallin.

Hosted By: Annie Bohanon, Desmond and Andrea Mason, the Creative Oklahoma Board of Directors and The Creativity Ambassadors Gala Committee.

Masters of Ceremony were Lance McDaniel and Melissa Scaramucci. Introductions were by Bart Conner and Burns Hargis.

The Evening: The theme was “right brain/left brain.” Half of the room's tables were covered in black linens and white dishes and the other half in opposite colors. Floral arrangements of hydrangeas were dyed black and white.

Seen among the “creative'' guests were: Shawnee Brittan and Joanna Champlin, Robert and Jan Henry, Bart Conner and Nadia Comaneci, Jenny Dunning, Gray Frederickson, Ralph and Susan McCalmont, Chip Oppenheim, Mary Frates, Linda Rosser, Lou Kerr, Duchess Sacha Abercorn, Mat and Jaci Hoffman, Barbara and Ben Harjo, Cliff and Leslie Hudson, Jeanette and Rand Elliott, Stephen Prescott, Rich Taylor and Nancy Mergler.

Special Honoree: Sir Ken Robinson, Creative Oklahoma Founding Advisor and internationally recognized leader in the development of education, creativity and innovation.
