A 52-year-old man accused of dismembering his mother and storing some of her body parts in a freezer was arraigned Tuesday in Cleveland County District Court.

A district judge denied bond for Gerald David Hume due to the “gruesome nature of the alleged crime,” records show. He has not entered a plea.

Hume is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of feloniously pointing a firearm and desecration of a human corpse.

The defendant was taken into custody Nov. 14 after an 11-hour standoff with police at his mother's residence in far south Oklahoma City. Police found Janet Kay Hume, 77, dead in a bedroom.

Police say Gerald Hume confessed to shooting his mother.

The state medical examiner ruled Janet Hume's death a homicide and reported she died of multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities haven't said when she died.

Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn said some of the victim's body parts — and a dead house cat — were found inside a freezer.
