Gina Mizell 11:00 a.m. Ok, let's rock n roll.

Rod 11:00 a.m. What do you think were the principal reaaons the OSU defensive scheme against OU didn't work or allow a win?

Gina Mizell 11:05 a.m. To me, it's pretty simple. The cornerbacks gave the receivers on the perimeter waaaaay too much room. Landry Jones passed for 500 yards, and hardly any of those yards were over the top. Stills, Brown, Saunders, etc. just ran 10-yard comeback routes at the sticks and picked up first down after first down. Also, OSU didn't get enough pressure on Landry Jones, mostly because of those quick drops and passes. Later in the game, OSU had to drop more guys into coverage, which hindered the Cowboys' ability to pressure Landry.

Ray 11:05 a.m. Does OSU go to the Cotton Bowl? Is that the best bowl we could wish for?

Gina Mizell 11:07 a.m. It's definitely a possibility, which is what I wrote about for today's paper. That's definitely the "best" bowl possibility for the Cowboys, now that the BCS is no longer a possibility. If not the Cotton, tha Alamo Bowl seems most likely. All depends on if OSU beats Baylor, though.

RC 11:07 a.m. Who's the starting QB?

Gina Mizell 11:08 a.m. Clint Chelf.

Ray 11:08 a.m. What is the talk about recruit Luke Del Rio? Is he still coming o is he worried about the QBs we already have?

Gina Mizell 11:10 a.m. He's still committed, but has made visits during the fall--most notably to Oregon State. Sure, seeing two freshmen QBs performing well has to be something Del Rio is thinking about. Also, the connection between Todd Monken and Luke's father, Jack Del Rio, has been well-documented. If Monken isn't here next year, pretty good chance Del Rio won't be, either.

Jim 11:10 a.m. If Kent State wins tonight, what happens to their BCS ranking?

Gina Mizell 11:12 a.m. It will almost certainly be high enough to get them into the BCS top 16--which means they will get an automatic bid to a BCS game. That will obviously change the Big 12 pecking order.

Ray 11:13 a.m. Do you think Monken gives it another year as OC?

Gina Mizell 11:15 a.m. My gut says no. I know he enjoys it here--but I also know he wants to be a head coach. That's certainly no secret. I think after what he's done this season--directing an offense that has gone through three QBs and tons of injuries but has still been high-powered--he's going to get way better job offers than last season. If he gets a good opportunity at a BCS school, I think he bolts.

Rod 11:16 a.m. I know OSU rushed it 41 times in the game but it just didn't feel like we ran the ball as much as we probably should have given our success of almost 5 yds a run? What do you think?

Gina Mizell 11:19 a.m. That's an interesting point. I think the Cowboys had more Cowboys actually running the ball--I definitely didn't expect Clint Chelf to carry the ball as much as he did. I thought the offense was pretty balanced. But I'll be honest--I haven't had a chance to re-watch that film yet. Will next week.

Ray 11:19 a.m. What RB recruiting? who is behind Smiff and Roland?

Gina Mizell 11:20 a.m. Caleb Muncrief is next on the depth chart. Corion Webster, a three-star back from Texas, is currently committed to the Cowboys.

Alum in AZ 11:20 a.m. Wow - OSU yields 500 yard passing without giving up any over-the-top big passing plays. All short and mid-range plays. Will Baylor play the same short passing game?

Gina Mizell 11:23 a.m. I think they would be silly not to try that at least a bit. Terrance Williams is a spectacular receiver--he's a finalist for the Biletnikoff award this season--but the entire receiving corps is very good. What's most troubling for OSU is at the start of the season those corners were getting beat. Last week, they got beat on the short game. It's just been so strange how what we all thought would be OSU's strength of the defense has actually been the weakness.

Ray 11:24 a.m. Why not bring in Luke and convert J.W. to Tavin Austin type back / reciever?

Gina Mizell 11:27 a.m. That's certainly not the first time converting Walsh has been brought up. But I think we saw this season that sometimes all three QBs are needed.
