Norman museum to host Holiday Happening

Crafts, music and storytelling are among the activities planned for the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History's annual Holiday Happening, set for Thursday.

The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History will hold its annual Holiday Happening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the museum at Timberdell Road and Chautauqua Avenue.

The free event will feature live music, crafts, storytelling and shopping. Dinosaur mascots Spike and Slash will be on hand in the children's Discovery Room.

The McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church Hand Bell Choir and cast members from Sooner Theatre's “White Christmas” will perform. The museum's gift shop, Excavations, will offer special one-night discounts on merchandise.

The museum is accepting donations of toys for children and teens and nonperishable food items on behalf of Food and Shelter Inc. Everyone who brings a donation will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift certificate to Excavations. The drawing will be at 8 p.m., and the winner must be present to receive the prize.
