Oklahoma City Police Department

Sgt. Steven R. Elsass, 39, of Edmond, and Amber L. Brown, 30, of Oklahoma City, were in a wreck north of Simmons Road on Western Avenue, troopers said.

Trooper Betsy Randolph said Brown was driving a Porsche at high speed about 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, north on Western Avenue, when the car overturned.

Troopers said both Elsass and Brown were pinned in the vehicle for about three hours and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Oklahoma City police officers arrived and escorted medical examiner's agents, who took the bodies to the office in Oklahoma City, Randolph said.

“There were a lot of law officers who responded to show their support,” Randolph said.

Elsass was a driver training instructor for the Oklahoma City Police Department and worked in the Santa Fe division, police Capt. Dexter Nelson said. He was with the police department for 12 years.

“We have notified the family and now it's going around the police family,” Nelson said. “He was very well liked.”
