No. 2-ranked Central Oklahoma opens the home portion of its wrestling season at 7 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Field House in Edmond. The Bronchos will take on Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rival Fort Hays (Kan.). UCO owns a 28-3 advantage in the series, although the Tigers won last season's dual, 21-18.
Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for youth ages 5 to 17 and seniors (age 60 and older). UCO students and faculty are admitted free by showing a school identification card.
FIVE FALLS KEY OCU
The top-ranked Oklahoma City University wrestling team used five falls to rout Wayland Baptist (Texas) 43-1 on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena. Kristi Garr at 109 pounds, Logan Rich (116), Joey Miller (123), Brieana Delgado (130) and Audrey Morehouse (136) had pins. The victories by Garr and Rich came in less than 49 seconds. Wayland Baptist also forfeited at 101 and 170 pounds.
UCO WOMEN UPSET PITT
Central Oklahoma used a late 9-0 run Thursday night en route to a 70-62 women's basketball upset victory over No. 11-ranked Pittsburg State (Kan.). Britney Morgan's 3-pointer with 2:11 left in the game started a rally that helped the Bronchos improve to 6-1. The game was the Central Oklahoma women's first as an official Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association member.
Whitney Dunn led UCO with 16 points. Alyssa Fuxa added 14 points and 11 rebounds. Morgan finished with nine points.
