Senior poetry contest set

The Annual Oklahoma Conference on Aging is seeking entries for its 2013 Senior Poetry Contest, sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Aging Services Division in conjunction with the annual conference on aging. Contestants must be residents of Oklahoma and entries must have been written when the contestant was 60 or older. The deadline is Jan. 31. Entries should be typed and include a cover sheet with the contestant's name, address, phone number, email address, and category (Men's or Women's). Email entries to or mail to Senior Poetry Contest, OKDHS Aging Services Division, 2401 NW 23, Suite 40, Oklahoma City, OK 73107. St. Gregory's to host carnival

St. Gregory's University will have a Christmas carnival from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Rockwood Center. Admission is free. The carnival will feature candy cane fishing, cake walks and a basketball arcade shoot-out. There also will be face painting and cookie decorating and Santa Claus will be in attendance. “It is such an honor to serve the community and spread the joy of the Christmas season,” said Student Government President Heather Anderson. “Sometimes, the best days are the ones when you can get someone to smile, and that is exactly what we as students get to do with the Christmas carnival.” For more information, call 878-5481.

Dealership supports local skaters

Hudiburg Toyota donated $5,000 to the Oklahoma City Figure Skating Club and invites families to attend The Ice Storm, a choreographed ice skating show. The show takes place at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Cox Convention Center Arena. The event is choreographed by Emmy-winning Oklahoma native Chris Castleberry and will feature competitive and recreational skaters, most of whom train at Arctic Edge Ice Arena in Edmond. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling 471-1707.
