Retirement poll results released
Members polled in a survey by the Oklahoma Teachers Retirement System overall are pleased with the pension plan's customer service, according to results released Monday. According to the survey of nearly 4,000, 89 percent of retired members and 60 percent of active members were satisfied with the customer service they receive from the agency. Altogether, 2,333 active and 1,612 retired members completed the survey. The Teachers Retirement System, in which retirees receive a set monthly amount based on time of service and salary, has nearly 158,000 members. About 88,000 are active teachers and about 53,000 are retirees and beneficiaries. About one third of the active members said they were undecided. The survey also showed 78 percent of the members who contacted the agency in the past year say they were satisfied; 98 percent of retired members said they've never had an issue with late payments; and 87 percent of active members said they make contributions to a retirement account/plan other than the Teachers Retirement System.
