Sorority members treat Norman living center residents to a dance
Members of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at the University of Oklahoma treated residents at Grace Living Center in Norman to a holiday dance.
NORMAN — Inspired by their Bible study leader and her 102-year-old mother, members of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at the University of Oklahoma staged a holiday dance at Grace Living Center.

Marilyn Foster visits her mother, Jerri Melton, nearly every day at the center at 201 48th Ave. SW.
For the past eight years, she and Melton have shared a variety of activities.
Recently, Foster said, the two began spontaneously dancing during a musical event at the care center.
When Foster told the sorority sisters of the joy this brought, the young women decided they wanted to help bring that same joy to the other residents.
“We want to come dance with them,” they told Foster.
The dance was held Dec. 6, with Christmas music and dance tunes provided by entertainer Bernard Ross.
Foster praised the staff at Grace Living Center and the young women she mentors.
“Grace always makes a special effort to keep their residents in touch with the community. These young women are very involved in giving to others in many ways. The more I told them about the fun things going on at the home and how appreciative the residents and staff are, the more they wanted to join in,” Foster said.
