Putnam City North's free throws finally started going through in the third overtime as the Lady Panthers held off Edmond North for a 66-59 win Tuesday night at Edmond North.

Putnam North led by four with a minute remaining, but Edmond North tied it up, helped by Brittney Knight's free throws with 21 seconds left.

Each team struggled from the free-throw line during the first and second overtimes before the Panthers settled down in the third to win.

Putnam North snapped a two-game losing streak with the win.

“After this past weekend, we had kind of a rough skid,” Panthers coach Brett McGee said in a television interview following the game. “This is huge in building that confidence in a young group.”

After wins over Edmond Santa Fe and Carl Albert to start the season, Putnam City was the hottest girls basketball team in Class 6A.

Tuesday, though, Yukon sent the Lady Pirates to their second consecutive loss, a 50-46 Millerettes win.

Abby Boyd led the way with 16 for Yukon, which came back from a halftime deficit.

Lashabra Plunkett scored 16 to lead Putnam City,

Bethel's girls have played a tough schedule so far, and the Wildcats got another tough one Tuesday in Class 2A No. 3 Dale.

Jennifer Lynch's team pulled off the upset, beating the Lady Pirates 49-44 in double overtime on the road.

Mikayla Whitten led Bethel (4-3) with 16. Breck Clark scored 16 to lead Dale (7-1).

Class A No. 1 Okarche used an explosive second-quarter stretch to beat the Class B No. 2 Lomega girls handily, 61-39, at home.

Madison Lee scored 21 points for Okarche and Morgan Vogt added 16.
