Putnam City North's free throws finally started going through in the third overtime as the Lady Panthers held off Edmond North for a 66-59 win Tuesday night at Edmond North.
Putnam North led by four with a minute remaining, but Edmond North tied it up, helped by Brittney Knight's free throws with 21 seconds left.
Each team struggled from the free-throw line during the first and second overtimes before the Panthers settled down in the third to win.
Putnam North snapped a two-game losing streak with the win.
“After this past weekend, we had kind of a rough skid,” Panthers coach Brett McGee said in a television interview following the game. “This is huge in building that confidence in a young group.”
YUKON DOWNS PC
After wins over Edmond Santa Fe and Carl Albert to start the season, Putnam City was the hottest girls basketball team in Class 6A.
Tuesday, though, Yukon sent the Lady Pirates to their second consecutive loss, a 50-46 Millerettes win.
Abby Boyd led the way with 16 for Yukon, which came back from a halftime deficit.

WHITTEN LEADS BETHEL TO UPSET
Bethel's girls have played a tough schedule so far, and the Wildcats got another tough one Tuesday in Class 2A No. 3 Dale.
Jennifer Lynch's team pulled off the upset, beating the Lady Pirates 49-44 in double overtime on the road.
Mikayla Whitten led Bethel (4-3) with 16. Breck Clark scored 16 to lead Dale (7-1).
Class A No. 1 Okarche used an explosive second-quarter stretch to beat the Class B No. 2 Lomega girls handily, 61-39, at home.
Madison Lee scored 21 points for Okarche and Morgan Vogt added 16.
Okarche reeled off 18 consecutive points to start the second quarter, building a 38-14 lead by the break.
MIDWEST CITY ROLLS
Midwest City's Daryck Jones scored 16, Kesean Brown added 14 and Louis Parker added 10 as Midwest City's boys blew out Norman 73-38 at home.
The Bombers jumped out to a big lead early, outscoring the Tigers 16-6 in the first quarter.
PRINCE LEADS NORMAN NORTH
Fresh off Norman North's Class 6A football runner-up season, Peyton Prince scored 22 to lead the Timberwolves to an 83-76 win over Moore.
Freshman Marcus Dickinson added 16 as five Norman North players scored in double figures.
AVANTS LEADS DEER CREEK
Deer Creek used a big fourth quarter to come from behind for a 51-47 win over Shawnee on the road.
Conner Avants scored 19, and Tyler Haddock added 11 as Deer Creek erased a 34-32 lead after three.
Theo Berry scored 14 to lead Shawnee.
TRIER SCORES 49
Allonzo Trier did just about all he could but it wasnt quite enough for Tulsa NOAH. Trier, a sophomore who transferred to NOAH from the Oklahoma City Storm before the season, scored 49 points in an 87-82 loss to Tulsa Memorial. Trier is considered one of the top 50 prospects in the country for the 2015 class and already has offers from a group that includes Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, ORU, Wichita State and Houston among others.

Carl Albert trailed by nine at halftime, but the Titans outscored Piedmont 30-18 after the break to come out with a 50-47 win on the road. ... Norman North's Bri Kuestersteffen scored 18 pints to lead the Timberwolves to a 64-47 win at Moore. ... Classen's Kennedy Williams scored 24 in a 47-37 win over Southeast. ...
