Here is the last installment of the “Virginia at War” series published by the University Press of Kentucky. This volume covers 1865, the last year of the Civil War. The book has articles by various authors on military, economic, social, cultural and political aspects that made up life in Virginia in 1865.

The last of Judith Brockenbrough McGuire's diary entries are included. One of the chapters discusses what happened after the war ended. The chapters have endnotes and there are a bibliography and an index.

This book is highly recommended to those interested in the various aspects of the last year of the Civil War in Virginia.
