As people in Connecticut are coping with tragedy, Oklahomans are looking for ways to help with their healing.

St. Paul's Cathedral, 127 NW 7th Street, is planning to host a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. Monday to remember the shooting victims who were attacked at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

The Rev. Justin Alan Lindstrom, dean at St. Paul's, said the church will be collecting money for the victims' families during the service.

Twenty children, all seven years or younger, and six adults were killed Friday when a gunman entered the school in central Connecticut and began shooting.

Lindstrom said St. Paul's, and Oklahoma City in general, have been sensitive to national tragedies ever since the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.

“We just felt like, with such a horrific tragedy, the least we can do is gather for prayer and start the process of figuring out how we can help the people of Connecticut,” he said.
