Now that the holiday season is upon us, thoughts naturally turn toward home. And when it comes to thoughts of home, few scenes are more inviting than the entire family gathered around the table to enjoy a home-cooked meal together. This handsome, sturdy trestle table, complete with benches, is a great way for do-it-yourselfers to set the stage for family gatherings for years to come.

The classic trestle design looks good in any setting, and the benches will easily accommodate eight adults in comfort. Built from “two-by” pine or fir lumber, the project's robust construction is designed to last for generations.

Easy enough for beginners, construction is simplified by mostly straight cuts and full-size patterns for all the curves. To build, just trace the parts onto lumber, cut everything out, sand and assemble using glue and screws. Finish with stain (as pictured) or a coat of clear sealer.

The table measures 84 inches long by 33 inches wide; the benches are 72 inches long.

The Trestle Table and Benches plan, No. C67, is $13.95 and includes full-size traceable patterns, complete step-by-step directions with photos, construction diagrams, a shopping list and cutting schedule and a toll-free help line for project questions. Separately, the Trestle Table plan (No. 614) is available for $9.95 and the Benches plan (No. 615) is available for $7.95. Please include $4 per order (not per item) for postage and handling and allow about two weeks for delivery.
