RATTAN — A Fort Towson woman died in a Pushmataha County wreck Monday night when a car she was riding in hit a pickup that was stopped in the road so a driver could pick up a dead deer, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Beulah S. O'Neal, 70, died at the hospital as a result of injuries suffered in a 7:50 p.m. crash on State Highway 3 in Rattan, the patrol reported.
O'Neal was a passenger in a car driven by Janice Rose Headrick, 60, of McAlester.
Headrick was taken to Pushmataha County Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released for arm and internal trunk injuries.
Dorothy Marie Hilburn, 39, of Spencerville, was the driver of a pickup eastbound on State Highway 3, the patrol reported. Hilburn stopped the pickup to load a dead deer that was in the roadway due to an earlier accident, the patrol reported.
The car driven east by Headrick rear-ended the pickup.
Hilburn was not in the pickup and was not hurt, the patrol reported.
Headrick and O'Neal wore seat belts, the patrol reported.
