EDMOND — Edmond police took 82 children shopping as part this year's “Shop with a Cop” programs.
Children spent an average of $170 each on Christmas gifts for themselves and their families on Sunday during a shopping spree at Super Target, 1200 E Second St., officer Jimmy Gwartney said.
“We ended up with the most donations ever, and we were able to help the most kids ever,” Gwartney said
There are no rules from the police officers. This year, 38 officers and cadets participated in the program that is always rewarding to the officers helping with the annual shopping spree.
Members of the Edmond Memorial High School softball team, Edmond Rotary Club and Target employees wrapped the gifts.
“This is our time to shine in the eyes of a child,” Gwartney said.
