— Jenks receiver Jordan Smallwood saw his potential future play out as he watched Oklahoma receiver Justin Brown catch 66 passes for 822 yards and four touchdowns in his one and only year with the Sooners.

Smallwood, at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, is cut from the same mold as the 6-foot-3, 209-pound Brown, and it's easy to see why the Sooners quickly fell in love with Smallwood last summer.

A surprise scholarship offer came after a performance in an OU camp, and Smallwood jumped at the opportunity.

Then he went out and helped lead Jenks to a Class 6A state title, catching 48 passes for 835 yards and 11 touchdowns against constant double-teams to earn a spot on The Oklahoman's 100th All-State team as a receiver.

“When we called on him, he delivered,” coach Allan Trimble said. “He drew a lot of double-teams, but he's so big and strong, he can be covered and he's still open.

“And when people played him one-on-one, he made them pay all year long.”

Smallwood's strength was on display in the 6A title game, when his stiff-arm move planted a Norman North defender in the ground as Smallwood coasted into the end zone.
