Opposing quarterbacks rarely challenged Broken Arrow senior defensive back Cre Moore this season.

“I just like making plays, but I didn't get the opportunity,” said Moore, who verbally committed to Kansas State in October.

Moore, however, still intercepted two passes and recorded 43 tackles as a big part of the Tigers' defense to earn a spot on The Oklahoman's All-State first team.

Moore had the chance for one more interception, dropping a sure pick in the Class 6A quarterfinals against Norman North, a game the Tigers would lose. But he still limited receiver Jake Higginbotham to just three receptions.

“He's got great speed,” Broken Arrow coach Steve Spavital said. “I heard a guy talking, a college baseball coach, one time and he just recruits shortstops because they're your best players. You're going to recruit a corner, which is our best player.”

Moore is following in the mold of former Broken Arrow standout Levi Copelin, who is now playing wide receiver at Missouri.

“When I was younger, I used to be scared of him because he was Levi, he was great and everybody looked up to him,” Moore said. “He started as a sophomore, too, and I never thought that would be me.”
