If the lesser prairie chicken isn't endangered, as Mike Terry (Point of Views, Dec. 14) claims, why has the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association partnered with state conservation agencies and business groups to conserve habitat? Truth is, the lesser prairie chicken has been considered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as a species in potential need of protection since 1995. With friends like Terry, lesser prairie chickens and other endangered wildlife and their habitats don't need enemies.
