Rachael Wood, of Edmond, is batting 1.000 as a baking contestant.

She is the winner of our 12 Days of Cookies contest that ended last week. The online contest drew more than 1,500 votes, the largest number swinging to Rachael, who said she’s been making these cookies as Christmas presents for more than a decade.

Giant Ginger Cookies

Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

4½ cups flour

4 teaspoons ginger

2 teaspoons baking soda

1½ teaspoons cinnamon

1 tea cloves

¼ tea salt

•Mix these dry ingredients and set aside.

1½ cup butter flavored shortening

•Beat until softened.

2 cups sugar

•Cream into the shortening.

2 eggs

½ cup molasses

•Add to shortening and beat well.

•Add ½ of the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Stir the other

in with a spoon.

•Shape into 2 inch balls and roll in sugar. I like to use turbinado sugar.

•Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
