EMSA works on Christmas

Paramedics responded to 250 emergency calls on Christmas Day, Emergency Medical Services Authority spokeswoman Lara O'Leary said. Of those, 183 people were taken to hospitals, she said. Paramedics responded to 29 calls of people slipping on ice and took 21 of those people to hospitals, she said. EMSA responded to 34 traffic crash calls and took 24 people to hospitals, she said.

Plane crash spurs inquiry

Police said a small plane crashed early Wednesday at Jones Riverside Airport, resulting in minor injuries. The Cessna Skyhawk 72R flipped in front of a control tower, officer Jillian Roberson said. Investigators haven't determined the cause, but the plane apparently was being taxied by a man who was not a pilot, she said. The man suffered minor hand injuries, she said.

Vandalism ices streets

Streets flooded then quickly froze in west Tulsa and Berryhill after vandals turned on four fire hydrants Wednesday. Officials said the hydrants were activated between 4 and 5 a.m. Crews shut them all off by 6:30 a.m. and applied salt and sand to streets in two of the locations.
