ON THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS:

What's with Bob Stoops letting Jalen Saunders play in the Cotton Bowl?

Great question. Stoops admits he typically suspends players who are arrested, but not always. Well, I went back five years and couldn't find an arrested player who wasn't suspended. So I'm trying to find out the reasoning behind Stoops' decision.

Who will get the most snaps at QB for OU next season?

I'm going to guess Blake Bell, but it's not a slam dunk. Trevor Knight is making waves.

Is TK a run/pass threat like Johnny Football?

Trevor Knight? He's a run/pass threat, but he's not like Johnny Football. Manziel is a rare talent who can really shift around. Few guys are that mobile.

If Stills leaves now, where does he rank as a receiver in the Stoops-era? I’d say he is a solid no. 3 with a chance at no. 2 with a senior season.

I don't know. I assume you have Broyles/Clayton 1-2. But I would put Iglesias No. 3. I'd put Stills in the category with Malcolm Kelly and Travis Wilson.

I know you're not a mind reader, but your best guess/prediction whether any of the OU underclassmen in question (Stills, Jefferson, Colvin, Millard) go pro early?

I'll say Stills and Jefferson go, Colvin and Millard stay. That's just a guess.

Do you have any idea what Cale Gundy's coaching aspirations might be? I was a little surprised after Wilson left that everyone immediately went straight to Heupel as the front-runner replacement, even though Cale was on staff when Josh still played. Does it seem like Gundy has no interest in a coordinator position?

I don't know if Cale has coordinator aspirations or not. But my impression is that he's more focused on recruiting than on scheming. It was clear early on that Heupel leaned toward schemes and gamelans.

Are there two better starting RBs in the NFL than Adrian Peterson and DeMarco Murray that came from the same college? It would be an interesting analysis.

Good question. I'd have to think about it. What's Miami got? Frank Gore is fantastic. Willis McGahee is on the downside. Anyone else? I'd have to look. I'll check it out.

ON OKLAHOMA STATE:

Was the ESPN commentator criticism of OSU's passing to the end zone justified? I felt sorry for the hapless Purdue team, but OSU had reserves in for a good bit of the 2nd half it appeared.

I would say no. Not justified. The halfback pass and throwback was a little squirrelly, but who cares. If OSU really wanted to run it up, Gundy could have called about five straight slants. The speed difference was so great, OSU would have had a hard time not scoring.

Comment on poor sportsmanship on OSU-Purdue game by Pokes running up score.

I don't think OSU did run up the score. If the Cowboys had wanted to keep scoring, they could have. On its final two possessions, OSU used a third-string quarterback and ran the ball on 3rd-and-10 and kicked a 42-yard field goal, then ran out the clock.

Surprised that Gundy named Chelf the starter?

No, because he alluded to that on Friday. I wrote about how it certainly looks like Chelf will be picked as the 2013 front-runner, and sure enough, Gundy did just that four days later. Chelf looks good. I don't think he's a great quarterback, but he's solid and he's experienced.

Should one of OSU quarterbacks look at transferring now? Chelf looks like starter for sure. Or will one redshirt?

If Chelf is the QB, Lunt should redshirt. No reason not to. Then in 2014, Walsh and Lunt could battle it out, and Lunt clearly would have the upper hand. Walsh might end up being a four-year situational quarterback. If Lunt wants to transfer, he'd have to sit out anyway. Why not stick around Stillwater and be the QB in 2014-16?

Gut feelings on Gilbert and Randle going pro?

Gilbert yes, Randle no. If I'm wrong on one, I would guess I'd be wrong on Randle. I think Gilbert is gone.

Any thoughts on who Gundy should hire?
